Brown Bag Ministry

Our Mission

Brown Bag ministry is an outreach program of Park Place Wesleyan Church. Our mission is to reach out to the hurting,  homeless,  suffering, and/or addicted men and women of our community.

Our ultimate goals are to:

  1. Show Christ’s love and mercy without judgement.
  2. To provide some small physical needs in hopes of sharing Biblical truth, answers for healing, and spiritual needs.

Who we are and what we do
We are a peer group who are willing to share our experience and strength in order to inspire hope in the hopeless. We welcome and encourage people who are suffering to attend church and recovery meetings.

Something as simple as a brown paper bag can be a vehicle of hope. The small brown bags we assemble and distribute to the less fortunate men and women of our community contain the following items:

  • Pre-packaged single serving foods -applesauce, protein/cereal bars, cracker packets, tuna packets, cookie treats, Vienna sausage, and bottled water
  • Personal Hygiene items – deodorant, toothbrush and paste, wipes, chapstick, comb/brush, and hair ties
  • Socks

Our team consists of clean and sober former homeless and/or addicted people saved by grace, as well as others who want to share the love of Christ, and include a husband and wife team of chaplains in training. Colleen Burton has used the 12 years of her sobriety to work in facilities targeting our suffering community members, ie., Honor House of Tampa, a 45 bed unit of transitional housing, and Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission in Pinellas Park.

Thank You for your interest in our ministry.  We appreciate your help in serving our community in any way you can.

What is Chi Alpha?

Chi Alpha (XA) is the name of our student ministry here at Park Place. It is a place for teens who are in 6th-12th grade and they can gather to worship, fellowship and grow to be more like Christ. The meaning of the youth group name is “Christ Sent Ones”. 2 Corinthians 5:20 states “We are therefore ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” No matter what our relationship is with God and who we are, we want to be closer to Him. God calls us to be disciples and to share the Good News in our schools, workplaces and around the world. Our goal is to put Christ first in our lives!

The Main Event (Wednesday Nights)

The doors to The Garage open at 6:30 where we are able to connect and fellowship with one another before our service starts at 7:00. The Main Event features fun and crazy games, worship and Biblical teaching that is relevant to a teen’s life. The main event ends around 8:15 but teens are able to hang out in The Garage until the doors close at 8:30. We can’t wait to connect with you and your friends!

Teen Camp is coming!!! Teen Camp is coming!!! Our theme for 2018 is RECHARGE based off 2 Timonthy 3: 16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” The dates are July 23th – July 27th and for students who are in 6th grade through 12th grade. The cost for teen camp is $300.00 with a $100.00 deposit due before April 1st. Register on Facebook at the Fl District Wesleyan Youth Page or you can register here online

Our mission is to lead children into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.
We accomplish this in a number of ways:

Provide adult leadership that is consistent.

Provide opportunities for family involvement.

Use of high impact praise and worship music that kids can be involved in.

Bible stories that are exciting.

Vacation Bible School and Summer Kids Camp

Puppet Ministry

We are very excited to see God at work in the lives of our kids. God uses kids in great ways to accomplish His purpose. Our part is to say, “Yes, Lord.”
This year events will include Kids Night Out, VBS, Kids Camp, community service projects and more!!!! Come & Invite Your Friends!!
Doors open at 6:30 and service is 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm!
This is for kids that are in Kindergarten – 5th grade!
Come and bring your friends and family to play games, sing worship songs and experience God in an awesome way!
We can’t wait to see everyone again tonight!

Bring your kids, grandkids and friends to an impacting island adventure!  At Shipwrecked VBS, kids will discover how Jesus rescues us through life’s storms.  Shipwrecked is filled with incredible Bible-learning experiences where kids can see, hear, touch and even taste!  Sciency-Fun Gizmos, team-building games, cool Bible songs and tasty treats are just a few of the stand-out activities that will help faith flow into real life.  (Since everything is hands-on, kids might get a little messy.  Be sure to send them in play clothes and safe shoes.)  Plus, we’ll help kids discover how to see evidence of God in everyday life —- something we call God Sightings.  Get ready to hear that phrase a lot!  Shipwrecked is for kids from age 3 (they must be potty-trained) through the 5th grade.  Dinner will be provided each evening from 5:00 to 5:30 pm.  The cost of dinner will be $2 per person per meal or $10 per person for the week.
Kids Camp

Kids Camp 2018 is right around the corner! This year the theme for camp is “Christmas in July”! Who wouldn’t mind Christmas year round?!? The dates for kids camp this year are July 23th thru 27th. Womens Ministry

Welcome to the Park Place Women’s Ministry Page!

A new upcoming event!

In a world where friending and unfriending is as simple as the click of a button…

…we need sacred friendship.

This isn’t a trendy new sport for the extrovert. Rather, this ancient spiritual practice has its origins in the Old Testament and its roots in early Monastic writings.

This is a hunger you didn’t know you had that goes far beyond similar interests, scheduled play dates and shared memories. It makes sense of life and God, it discovers beauty and confession, it finds room for grace and grief. It’s a form of prayer.

If you would like to learn more and “purchase” the book (it’s free!), just go to the Wesleyan Publishing House.

Mens Ministries

Location: Park Place Wesleyan Church

Pinellas Park, FL 33781

Men, somewhere along the way, our culture lost its definition of manhood, leaving generations of men and men-to-be confused about their roles, responsibilities, relationships and the reason God made them men. Join us at our retreat as Mark Batterson & 4 of our pastors help us understand what it means to be men of God.
Registration for our retreat is $55/man which will be waived for any senior/lead/solo pastor who brings at least 3 men & himself from his church. Registration fees are due no later than Friday, February 16th. Registration may be done through me (contact info below) or online. Lodging is not included in the registration; there are several hotels within a short drive of the church, or for those who prefer to “rough it,” sleeping will be allowed at the church.
Follow links on the website & under “Giving Type” select “Men’s Retreat.” In the memo section, please indicate the name of your church & your t-shirt size. If registering more than one man, I will need the above information for each individual. Registration is now open.

Note: Under “giving type” click on “men’s retreat”. In the memo section, indicate the name of church & t-shirt size.
